Sciamachy

Brenda N.

  • We have all been through ups and downs in our lifetimes. Some people, their downs may outnumber the ups, causing mental and physical suffering. One can either choose to fight or be overwhelmed by the struggles. It is quite difficult to escape once someone has been consumed, and they often wind up living in a fantasy world built to protect themselves from reality. My illustration depicts a person who has already been consumed but is attempting to escape. This is why I chose the word Sciamachy as my title, a Greek phrase that refers to “fighting your demons” or “fighting imagined enemies.”

  • Creativity to me is a way to express what one is passionate about. Everyone has a different style of creativeness since it depends on one's imagination and what perspective they approach their subject. Creativity can be achieved even without having an artistic side.
