Bokair's Lament

Noa G.

  • This song is part of a larger project I’ve been working on. It’s one of the songs in a musical I’m writing about a soldier named Bokair, who's been tasked with leading an army against a fire goddess named Taitia in order to end her war on his homeland. In the ensuing battle, Bokair succeeds in defeating her, but part of her spirit gets trapped inside of him. The musical follows Bokair as he struggles to control the fire that’s now a part of him. This song, Bokair's Lament, is sung toward the beginning of the musical, and is a letter Bokair has written to his second in command, James, before the battle begins. In it, Bokair confesses his feelings for James because he fears it is his last chance to tell him.

  • Creativity means learning about myself through the lens of my characters and their stories. These stories come to me as drawings, comics, short plays, or songs, and are an expression of my imagination in artistic form.
