The Race Against Slavery
In 2022, I worked as a Committee Member for the San Francisco Chapter of the 24 Hours Race Organization, a charity organization from Hong Kong that emphasizes student activism to fight and raise money against slavery and human trafficking.
The Impact
After getting hit by a car last April, I've struggled with the recovery. Although my scars are now gone, the trauma remains. I used animation to help recover, allowing me to retell the story in my own words. "The Impact" offers an insight into my train of thought.
We'll Meet Again
This was the film that really inspired me and my partner to advance our skills. This was our realization... we can do this. We can make things that make people say, "wow". As high school students, we are so proud to call this our first official video. Thank you for taking the time to appreciate our art.
Alice
Alice is a film which outlets my history with divorced parents and coming to terms with the loss of a loved one. Taking inspiration from emotions and memories, I put together a piece which decribes the feeling of making the hard choice of standing up for yourself. It is a film about building the courage to end bullying even in domestic settings.
An Immigrant's Tale
This clip is two scenes from my documentary, “An Immigrant’s Tale”, in which I dive deeper into my parents’ immigration story and compare and contrast their childhoods to my brother’s. I made this film for my school’s Junior Fellowship program, in which four students from the junior class were selected to complete a self-directed learning experience over the summer.
Us Without Me
"Us Without Me" is a music video that plays under a lyrical song composed by an indie artist named Grentperez. This being my first story-telling music video, I went into this project inexperienced. Learning how to plan against the sun and structure the clips onto the timeline while I edit was a struggle.
A Musical Elysium
This film is a visual manifestation of a song a song I wrote, produced and recorded. The song is a spiritual homage to God and what I
Real or Reverse
These days, it’s hard to tell what’s real and what’s computer generated. With the rise of artificial intelligence, it’s all too easy for anyone with an internet enabled device to create works of art in mere seconds. Thus, I wanted to demonstrate through the medium of film that not all things on the internet are what they seem to be.
Vaseline Advertisement
In crafting the Vaseline advert, my primary goal was to combine the therapeutic qualities of skincare, alongside the joy of storytelling. Injecting humor through a lighthearted adventure during the application of Vaseline adds a layer of relatability.
Lavender & Rose
A film that takes place in Victorian times about two women in forbidden love of different households.
RECYCLER
If I'm honest, I can't find much to say about this. I made in a short deadline of a month and a half, paired with the 5 minute timer it really made me push myself. It began with me writing a script, scrolling through random piano preset sounds and writing their numbers down after.
Look Behind You
This film is a short horror made for a film class. The prompt required us to write, shoot, and edit our own films while remaining in one assigned space.
Peeling's End
This film was a quick idea I had for film class which turned into something I completely dedicated two days for filming(one for filming, one for editing). This project was completely for me so I was really able to let loose and do what pleased me, so hopefully it paid off.
Window of Lenses
This film is a satirical comedy about the issue surrounding the use of cameras to "capture the moment." Recently I took a 3 day camera-free camping trip and it made me realize how much more "in the moment" I can be without cameras. Taking pictures and photos can help you record memorable moments, but it also takes you out of them.
You Found Me!
This is a film I made during my summer program this year about a bear trying to rebuild his old childhood home. I grew up adoring student films, and from what I knew they always had an impactful meaning and left you with positive feelings; which is something I’ve always wanted to achieve with my own work. I took a lot of creative risks with this film while honing in on the skills that I already possessed.
Zihuatanejo Contrast
While me and my family were in Zihuatanejo I took these stunning views of the Zihuatanejo coastline and sunset. The view from one of the restaurants is still one of the most beautiful things I've seen in my entire life. The orange, warm colors blending with the cold blue tints on the other side is one of the most beautiful things I have ever photographed. With a little bit of contrast work on PIXLR, the already beautiful view was turned into something that I felt couldn't just be confined to my eyes only.
Wilderness Serenity
It is a film about our world and the nature that we live in, it reminds me and us to be mindful of everything we do in nature and to preserve and improve it every chance we get. The audio and guitar was all recorded by me and it is all orginal.
