Anemoia was inspired by my trip to Osaka, Japan for the first time. I couldn’t help but see my younger self within the children in this unfamiliar and bustling cosmopolitan district. With this idea in mind, I decided on my main material being a kids’ watercolor set. Taking parts from multiple photos, I drew most of the piece in black watercolor to signify the unfamiliarity and ”unknown”. The graphite powder was used to accentuate this further by showing the sort of haziness as you try to remember further back. The only color (specifically warmer colors) in this piece are used to paint the children, the colors signifying a mix of warmth, comfort, and familiarity encompassed by this dark unknown and unfamiliarity - anemoia.

Creativity is how you express yourself. Some people may tell you it’s basic, others may find it interesting, but as long as YOU believe it represents you, that makes your ventures and creations so much more personal and authentic - I firmly believe finding a form for you is true creativity.
