KICK-FLIP

  • I am a California native and proudly represent the stereotype as a die-hard skateboarder. The single skating trick that made me a forever fan of the sport is the kick-flip. It is a combination of frenetic energy and timing that generates a cool looking outcome where the board rotates in mid-air while you travel over it until landing with the board stable and in a flat position under the feet. In my view, it is controlled chaos. In ”KICK-FLIP”, the perspective is from the board’s view at the crucial moment where the foot slides across the board to initiate the spin. The awkward positioning of the hands and upper body reflect the contortion needed to generate the burst of energy in split-second timing to perform the trick.

  • Creativity means embracing the freedom to color outside the lines, both literally and figuratively. It is about adjusting ones perspective enough to reframe a thought, a moment, an image or sensation into something new. Uncovering this uniqueness exposes your creative voice--an artistic expression meant to be shared and to inspire.
