Raindrops

The first step I took was finding the right melody, and afterward, I came up with the main motif by figuring out what would feel right after the first three bars. I wrote the harmony using lots of extensions to make the chords sound richer and more beautiful. When it came time to pick instruments, I found the ones that I liked the most. The harp, flute, and piano were obvious choices, but after adding the cello, it felt a little lonely without the company of the violin and viola. While the song is very open to interpretation, I always meant it to be about the beauty of nature, from freshly fallen raindrops to the vastness of the cosmos.

To me, creativity is the ability to engage with multiple different artistic works and synthesize them into something that shares their unique experiences and perspective
