As a young black male in the United States, it is a rarity to be able to have such opportunities like birdwatching.

I’ve always found the eye to be the most compelling part of photos.

Wandering through the old souk (outdoor marketplace) while visiting my family in Tunis this summer, I was struck by how old it felt. Standing outside of what used to be the house of the bey (Turkish governor), I was surrounded by French and Arabic signs, a relic of colonial history.

During my dads pre-game lesson on fly fishing, I squatted on the rock below me and framed the shot, adjusting the correct exposure for my films ISO.

The process it took was I used a camera on a tripod with low shutter speed on a apartment balcony overlooking the freeway.

This piece is meant to show the beauty of human energy whilst isolated.

My inspiration for this photo was the Move 2001 space odyssey.
