This story behind my dancing consists of clips of an interview with my mom about her legacy growing up as an immigrant from Cambodia in America, “The Land of Opportunity.”

I've been a competitive dancer for 10 years. At last year's Hollywood Invitational Nationals Dance competition, I competed with this dance - "Messages from the Stars".

This dance piece is a solo choreographed by Eddieomar Gonzalez Castillo. As I workshopped this piece, I experimented with the subtleness between the piano keys.

“Phenomenal” is a contemporary ballet work that examines the resilience and strength of women of color despite the societal biases that oppress them. In this piece, set to a rap by Vonii and inspired by Maya Angelou’s poem, “Phenomenal Woman,” my goal was to redefine the Westernized ideals of ballet that often exclude BIPOC dancers by deviating from traditional ballet lines and musicality, drawing from contemporary, jazz, and commercial styles.

Self isolation, and self love, when loving someone and something else becomes to big of a task.

As a Nationally ranked competitive figure skater, I wanted to share my love for the sport and everything it has to offer. Figure skating combines both various dance styles with difficult acrobatics, therefore allowing me to maximize my self-expression in a unique way.

"Beyond Repetition" is an original piece by the ODC Dance Jam, accompanied by Who Lights the Sun? by Rene Aubry This thoughtful piece is about how the patterns in life set the stage for something new to blossom and expresses how a minute can change a life or blend into the background.

My piece is about being your authentic self, I wanted to showcase young women who have big personalities and the power associated with feminine. My movement aesthetic is explosive and sassy; I feel like if we all shine our light and be our authentic selves we can can shine bright as the sun. The colors I chose are bright neon colors to represent the"energy" of being free, feminine and yourself.

I am sharing a five minute excerpt from a piece of choreography I created in my junior year. The original piece is nine and a half minutes. I got to perform in the piece (red shorts, blue top), direct thirteen dancers, create costuming, and design lighting.

The dancers are using their body languages to tell the story of the life a dandelions. From this dance we can see the courage of dandelions. The dandelions are carried by the wind to embark on to a journey filled with rain, storm and other challenges.

When I heard the music Interbloom, I thought it's the perfect music for me to choreograph a piece that could represent the internal struggle I went through growing up into the teenage years in high school. As I fearlessly explore my feelings and dreams, I was finally able to find myself and my passion.

This piece, Mister Magic, was an exploration into my artistic process. I have been creating pieces for myself and others for the past three years. Mister Magic however, is the most genuine work that I have ever created, barring my improvisation. Mister Magic allowed for me to freely create within the odd new age form without any feelings of doubt.

My piece was meant to inspire young women to encourage them of their own power. My process was built with the idea that women are the true source of strength and power. I wanted to highlight girl power and all things we could accomplish together.

This solo entitled Natalie Don't was created as a piece for a recital. I heard this song while on Instagram. The next day I went into the dance studio and started creating movements to the song. Its about a situation where a friend tries to come between a love relationship. The song captures the intense emotions that come from jealousy and the desire to protect what is theirs.

The name of my piece is called "Atrapada", which is "trapped" in english; when I made this piece I knew I wanted I wanted to reference alcholosim. Which is my dancers are holding wine bottles as props.

This is a piece I choroeogaphed about finding your voice. Throughout my time in high school, I struggled with advocating for myself and finding my own voice.

Lasya Tandav is a piece that explores the differences between a bold masculine energy (Tandav) and a soft feminine energy (Lasya). The piece finds a balance between power and grace to add subtle nuances and allow the dancer to explore both worlds.

Classical Chinese dance uses "water sleeves" for some of its loveliest expressions. Acting as extensions of a dancer's arms, these sleeves linger in the air long after a movement is finished. The effect is akin to fluttering wings or trailing ripples, a visual echo of the performer as she glides from one movement to the next.

I wanted my art work to explore themes of fatherhood and the challenges of raising two daughters in a world where women face violence and objectification on a daily basis. I wanted my father figure to be protective of his daughters as they move through the world.

One day, a few weeks after school started, my friends and I were hanging out when someone brought up the idea of a dance competition. We had recently been bonding over our shared joy of dance, and what better way to experience it?
