If You Were Here
This piece is very personal because it talks about a subject that I've always wanted to talk about.
Love from the Depths
Love creates the most beautiful experiences, yet demands the most painful sacrifices.
Watery Grave
I feel a lot of inexplicable anxiety when I'm doing simple, everyday things in public, like drinking water. This piece is a humourous exaggeration of the thoughts that go through my head when I'm drinking from a water fountain.
Every Time
This poem had to do with time, as you can see, I have my own experiences with time.
Acceptable
My piece of writing explores my complex relationship with diving–a sport that fills me with exhilaration and passion yet fear and anxiety at the same time. As a competitive diver, I feel burdened by the pressure to perform my best which can be overwhelming.
All the little flowers that grow in the meadow
When I was young at recess, we would pick the yellow flowers from on the sides of the swing sets. My peers and I gave these flowers several purposes like creating the bouquet for imaginary weddings, or the crowns for playing princess.
Do you remember?
My Grandfather's name was William Smith. This piece is written about and for him. He showed me what it was like to be brave and strong with stories of war and love.
From a Friend
This piece discusses my personal struggles with jealousy. I think that it's intriguing because I haven't really seen people go into depth about jealousy in this way because both characters don't have any diminishing traits, yet one still feels disgusted by the other.
3 Works of Art
Poetry is one of my favorite methods to express internal feelings that sometimes being said straightforward doesn't complete the mood.
Tiruppavai
The dance I’m performing is called "Tiruppavai" which is a poem by Saint Andal in praise of the Hindu God Lord Krishna.
Dance in Reflection
Photo shows my high school’s dance team performing during our 2023 “Big Blue Madness” Rally, a glow in the dark rally to celebrate the start of basketball season.
Soul Strings & Mother
Poem "Soul Strings": I have always believed in order to love someone else you need to solidify yourself. Including the idea that the connection through the soul is always deeper than flesh.
Repetition
Childhood has a soft innocence that is the bane of those who have it, but the envy of those that do not.
Ambiguous Patriot
A plastic bag holding a newly purchased journal often also contains a pack of sparkly gel pens or pastel highlighters for creating orderly to-do lists or tracking new year's resolutions.
