Echo of the Tao in the Green Mountains
"Echo of the Tao in the Green Mountains" is the embodiment of nature's harmony and the spiritual essence of Taoism. We move with grace against the backdrop of lush mountains, mirroring nature's tranquility through each fluid motion as we dance.
Moonlight Sonata
This piece is choreographed by my teacher, Marina Osipova, under the beautiful, world-renowned, Beethoven composition, “Moonlight Sonata.” Using such a legendary classical arrangement and applying something of our own can be daunting, but it was a valuable and eye-opening experience.
Way Down We Go
This piece represents my struggles with anxiety and depression. My unbridled passion and love for dance gets me though all of the hardships in my life.
I Matter Because
When creating this the message I wanted to send was of hope that even though you may be going through a season in your life that is difficult and you physically do not see a way out.
They All Still Die
This piece is simulating a fantasy world filled with fairy’s and magic. I created this piece with the inspiration of Shakespeare’s play “A Midsummers Night Dream”. I wanted to convey a mystical world of mischievous fairies and sprites around a forest.
Don't Need Nobody
I chose this song to choreograph a contemporary dance to because it speaks to and resonates with me. The song, appropriately titled, “Don’t Need Nobody,” embodies the idea that you can be independent and stand on your own.
Attack of the AI
Only until quarantine did I realize I had a passion for dance. I had no prior experience in dance, yet when I discovered the world of K-Pop, I found myself entranced by their performances.
Jared the Skeleton
I got this plastic skeleton at a store somewhere a few years ago, and I took this picture of it for a school project on shutter speed.
A Blur
This is a image of my friend and she was expressing how there is different angles of beauty. In the image she is moving around with a slow shutter speed to get the faces caught in different ways. The black background enhances the beauty and color of the subject. The pearls that she is wearing is symbolizing the "old time" idea of beauty in women and I added it to make the old aesthetic come to life in modern photography.
Spinning Globe
The globe I had was able to light up, and I was worried about using that feature. I took a few shots of the globe spinning without the light, and when I felt that I had a good photo, I decided to turn it on. It turned out better than I expected and took more shots of it.
Shadow
This photo was taken at a time when I was feeling very lonely and tired, and I also really like to incorporate shadows into my photos. The black and white and the contrast makes the photo feel very dramatic, and like I said before, portrays the loneliness I was feeling. Also because it was taken in the mornin, the shadows are longer, almost sadder. This photo, though pretty simple, is important to me because of the emotional connection. Plus I think it looks pretty cool.
chalk up
My passion for climbing essentially saved my life. Both my physical and emotional wellbeing rely on the practice of rock climbing. The hands here are those of a strong and kind friend who has guided me and allowed me to act as a guide in return. Nothing has helped me learn more than having the opportunity to observe and teach others. I'd rather have chalk in my lungs than oxygen, and so would my friend. Photographing climbing sessions has been a privilege and immense blessing - my intentions is continue photographing climbers at every opportunity that presents itself to me. I love looking back at the intricacy of this shot - each vein, muscle and tendon that helps one climb, each molecule of chalk that allows that much more grip; a collection of very small parts that construct into something meaningful and joyful.
Grazing Next to the Bay
I drove up to mount Tam to get a view of SF, which is where I encountered some deer grazing on the hillside.
Quiet Hill
I was inspired by the quiet morning hills of the Marin Headlands. While driving on the road i noticed the light sunrise appearing in the sky and took a photo. In my photo your lead by the road at the bottom of the photo and your eyes are drawn to the colors in the sky.
The 1000 Years Old Crane
On Thanksgiving Day, I went for a nature walk with my parent. We came upon a crane. At that moment, the sunlight appeared and lighted the background and the tall grass. As I was making adjustment on the iPhone, light and darkness danced and moved around the crane. The scene created a feeling of mystery. It reminds me of the mythical crane in Chinese folklores and Chinese wall art paintings. Just as I snap the photo, the crane flew away and the sunlight moved on to other places.
